Ummmm WOW WHAT A NIGHT THIS WAS!

So I met Carly when I did this crazy thing where I skipped college for a year and traveled the world volunteering. It was coordinated by an organization and we got placed in the same group! Carly is a very talented wedding photographer and I looked up to her HARD CORE when I met her all those years ago as a budding inexperienced little photog! <3 She has inspired me and encouraged me since the day I met her and her kindness means more to me than she could ever know!

We planned a fun little couples shoot in Laguna Beach since she and her boyfriend Curtis were visiting! Little did EITHER of us know – Curtis planned for this to be the moment he proposed! Carly and Curtis have only been in front of the camera once before to model for a videographer – but you would NEVER know this was their first photoshoot together! After lots of laughs and me excitedly yelling at them to make out endlessly (#typical), we were headed back when I stopped them to try and squeeze the last little bit out of blue hour. (Blue hour is the hour after the sun sets! It creates unique but challenging lighting conditions and is a BLAST to shoot in!)

After placing them near the water, Curtis decided this was the moment and poured his heart out to Carly as he dropped down to one knee. Carly (and myself – let’s be real here) was gasping and crying and totally surprised by it all! What’s even crazier is that Curtis has this little joke where he has been carrying around fake engagement rings & fake proposing to Carly throughout their relationship. He had JUST pulled out the collection of many fake rings from his pocket to tell me about it as we were walking back. But then he pulled out the real ring and everything changed.

Basically Carly couldn’t handle it AT ALL and we spent the rest of the night trying to convince her it was, in fact, real while Curtis wiped away her tears of joy.

YEAH, IT WAS THAT GOOD. <3

p.s. guys – if you’re gonna propose at our shoot… it helps a little if you tell me beforehand! haha 😉
